Reducing the argument down to a binary decision seems to me to be a mistake. It really doesn’t need to be one or the other, and yet we have convinced ourselves that it must be so. Total abolition is not the only path forward, nor is keeping IHT exactly the way it is.

She says her path is not going right, left or down the middle but one marked Conservative. That she’s defining that is entirely her right as leader. I get that people might not like every option agreed upon, but it seems a reasoned and reasonable position to take – as long as you check and check again you think you are right
What happens if Nigel Farage walks away?
If Farage goes – and it remains an ‘if’ – the threat to the Conservative Party from its right will be diminished. It is a great opportunity but also creates a crucial strategic dilemma. The Conservatives can either attempt to fill the space Farage has left behind, or set out a platform with a broad appeal based on economic competence.

We know the end of this miserable, sad story. There will be no return to pre-1967 borders. In the coming decades, Palestinian pockets of control will become smaller and smaller. The willingness of the Israeli victors to deal with the Palestinian leadership will wither. Palestinians will become a new diaspora.
So be it economics or politics or deep issues of political identity there are reasons why the Brexit debate carries on. Even though we aren’t rejoining!

We cannot waste a moment more. Every day that passes is another day where thousands of low-skilled migrants become eligible for ILR. Time is of the essence. We must increase the ILR qualifying period for everyone in our country to 10 years and require low-skilled, low-wage immigrants to go home once their temporary work visas expire.
If uniting the right has never been more important since we entered the era of five-party politics, it has also never been more difficult. An electoral alliance between Reform and the Conservatives would be doomed to fail, and the Conservatives have much more to lose from trying.
We need a more serious approach to risk around greyhound racing and gambling
A mature society understands the difference between use and misuse, enjoyment and dependency, risk and recklessness. An increasingly paternalistic strain of campaigning refuses to acknowledge those distinctions.
The Right need a climate change plan
Right now, we are a leading player in design and frontier technology in this area, partly because of our excellent education, culture, and historical inheritance, and partly because Net-Zero gave us a first-movers advantage. If we let these sectors wither, we are consigning ourselves to irrelevance and faster decline.
