Hundreds of activists attended the launch of Labour’s campaign to hold the seat of Holborn and St Pancras today (Saturday 12th September), with so many attempting to register that they had to close the link early.

The launch was held at the London Irish Centre where candidate Sagal Abdi-Wali was joined by local MPs Georgia Gould and Florence Eshalomi.

Speaking at the launch, Abdi-Wali said: “Camden gave my family a home, hope, and opportunity when we needed it most. I’ve never forgotten that, and I’ve spent my life working to give that same hope back to the community.

“I want every child growing up here and every family who calls this place home to have that same security and opportunity.

“That means more homes people can afford, giving families the support they need and making sure every child gets the best possible start in life.

“I’m proud of what we’ve delivered together in Camden, but I know there is so much more to do. Labour’s campaign is about bringing our community together to make hope win in Holborn and St Pancras.”

Political lead for the campaign Liam Conlon MP said: “It’s been an incredible launch today for Sagal’s campaign in Holborn & St Pancras.

“We had so many members signing up we had to close the registration link early. There were long queues to get into the London Irish Centre with over 500 members attending. We’ve got lots more joining throughout the day today, and again tomorrow, to be part of this positive and hopeful campaign.

“There is so much excitement and momentum behind this campaign, and we’re getting a fantastic response from people who know in Sagal they’ll have an MP who lives here, cares about the area, and has already given so much to this community. We’re looking forward to the days and weeks ahead!”
