Nine out of ten Labour members believe Andy Burnham has governed well since taking office in July this year, exclusive LabourList polling can reveal.
The poll, conducted exclusively for LabourList by Survation, shows 92 percent of Labour members consider Burnham to have governed well since becoming Prime Minister this summer.
The poll shows 42 per cent of Labour members believe Burnham has governed very well, while a further 50 percent say he has governed fairly well.

The positive assessment is broadly consistent across different sections of the party’s membership.
Among Labour members who voted for Keir Starmer in the 2020 Labour leadership election, 91 percent believe Burnham has governed well since taking office.
That figure rises to 96 percent among those who backed Lisa Nandy, while 89 percent of members who voted for Rebecca Long Bailey also say Burnham has governed well.
The findings suggest that Burnham’s positive impact extends across different groups within the Labour membership, rather than being concentrated among supporters of one particular leadership candidate or political faction.

The poll also finds that 80 percent of Labour members believe the Labour Party is currently heading in the right direction.
Nine percent disagree, while 11 percent say they do not know.
The figures provide a contrast with previous assessments of the party’s direction under Keir Starmer, when Labour members were more divided in their views.
Reform seen as biggest electoral threat
Despite recent national voting intention polling showing a decline in support for Reform UK, two-thirds of Labour members believe Nigel Farage’s party represents the biggest electoral threat to Burnham and Labour.
Around one in five members identify the Green Party as Labour’s biggest electoral threat, while one in ten name the Conservatives.
The findings indicate that, among Labour members, Reform remains the party most widely viewed as presenting a challenge to Labour at the next election.
Members expect Labour to remain in government
Labour members also express relatively positive expectations for the party’s prospects at the next general election.
45 per cent believe the most likely outcome is a small Labour majority, making it the most commonly selected in the poll.
A further 38 per cent believe Labour is most likely to form a government following a hung parliament.
Taken together, the findings show that a clear majority of Labour members expect the party to remain in government after the next general election, either with a small majority or following a hung parliament.

In response to the poll, LabourList editor Emma Burnell said: “Members overwhelmingly back Burnham and are happy with the start he’s made injecting new energy into government. While you would naturally expect high approval rating for a Labour PM from the members, this is definitely on the higher end.
“Burnham will be pleased with these numbers, but also aware that they come with high expectations for delivery.”
The poll is the latest in a series of regular polls LabourList is publishing in partnership with leading pollsters Survation, a member of the British Polling Council and a Market Research Society Partner.
Survation surveyed 1,073 readers of LabourList, the leading dedicated newsletter and news and comment website for Labour supporters, who also said they were Labour Party members between 19th September – 22nd September 2026.
Data was weighted to the profile of party members by age, sex, region, 2020 Labour leadership vote and 2025 deputy leadership vote. Targets for weighting were drawn from the British Election Study and the results of the leadership and deputy leadership election.
